Earlier, Nintendo sent a Japanese confirmation that approximately 160,000 Nintendo identifiers were compromised. They suspect that the intruder has access to both the login account and passwords to access these identifiers, and will force the users of these accounts to change their passwords.
In an update, they mention that there is currently no evidence that their database has been violated. The official statement indicates that Nintendo identifiers were obtained from external sources at their service. What external sources, they still have to confirm.
Even if you have been informed that your account has been compromised, it’s never a bad idea to reset your passwords after a security flaw. We recommend that all those with Nintendo identifiers change account as soon as possible.

We would like to provide an update on recent incidents of unauthorized access to certain Nintendo. accounts
When we continue to investigate, we want to reassure users about the fact that there is currently no evidence indicating a violation of Nintendo’s databases, servers or services. As part of our current survey, we delete the possibility of using a Nintendo Network ID to connect to a Nintendo account. All other connection options to a Nintendo account remain available.
